This novel was gorgeous. I loved Vladek's broken English. I loved that author was aware of the critiques people might have of his work, and that it seemed that he had them too. He understood what he was doing when taking on his father's tale. I also felt the novel to be fair. Spiegelman doesn't make his father out to be hero, he makes him out to be a survivor. He doesn't glorify his father's endeavors but rather takes a journalistic approach to it. Even though it was a graphic novel, I felt like I could hear Vladek's voice in my head as if I was there while his stories were being recorded.

I highly recommend this book.
