I See You, Charlotte
by Coralee Taylor
"You might be insignificant as yourself, but you are less than nothing as someone else."
Shattered..
Utterly broken..
I read this book in one sitting, how could I not once I started. It was a downward spiral. A spiral that meant memory lane for me.
It's been years since I have felt what I did while reading this book. Almost like a time capsule that I never knew could come from a book.
I was Charlotte, Charlotte was me.
The highs, the lows, the very extreme lows. Everything.
The things in this book that Charlotte goes through are everyday things until they aren't. Things that can be helped but only if the person wants them, Charlotte doesn't.
Hurt & betrayal are bitches that will cut you down and keep you there, drowning. We get to see Charlotte navigate her path. The plus side is the green eyed light that I can only hope lights her path to right direction.
I almost put this book down and not finished it, I don't have triggers but this one is the only one that came close to making me stop. I pushed through and I am glad I did, I needed to finish it. Through tears and sniffles, I made it to the end except I was not prepared for a cliffhanger. A hell of a one at that too. I have a feeling I know where it's going but until book 2 comes I can only guess.
This book touches on very sensitive issues but I am glad they came across the way they did. Even if this takes place in a "high school" world the issues inside can affect everyone, no matter what age you are.
Mental Health does not leave any one out.
This book is heavy on the triggers so please go in with open eyes and read them. This Debut that is filled with such hard topics is one that was done in just the right way and I can't wait to read more.
