Convenience Store Woman
by Sayaka Murata
What. Did. I. Just. Read?! Easily the quirkiest book ever, telling the story of Keiko who has never quite fit in, is never quite normal, and never really understands why. Keiko is funny, charming and refreshingly open about her differences. She not exactly relatable, but she is a character worth reading. The key to success for most of us is measured by Keiko and as a society we are found severely lacking. Through the story we can see the absurdity of how we devalue people who don’t fit the mould of university-career-offspring. I thoroughly enjoyed this!
