Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris
3.0

While I continue to enjoy the series a lot, some parts can be overly cheesy. I love Sookie's character and her word of the day calendar quirk. But the whole Elvis being a vampire concept, for me, is just weird and it's not my favorite when he comes into each book. While his presence is at a minimum throughout most of the books, I find myself cringing when he does come into the story.

While Sookie is a lovely character who tries to stick to her values as much as she can, she tends to get herself into more trouble than not owing more and more people within the supernatural community. She's a hot headed woman who usually doesn't need a man even though she has a line of suitors to choose from. The mystery in this novel was well done but once we get to see who is finally shooting the shifters, everything seemed very rushed and I didn't feel like the readers got the mystery revealed the way the story deserved. From then on the rest of the book went by quickly with the werewolves competition for pack master and figuring out the identity of the other shooter. I wish there was more time and explanations in between as I felt it just went by fast.

Overall I enjoyed the book as well as the story line and look forward to the next one.
