Selected this while browsing the folklore section of my local university’s library for an introductory text. I found the first chapter, which is comprised of a concise history of folklore studies up to the book’s publication, to be useful. The second chapter is a bibliography, with leads on resources in various areas of folkloristics, while Chapter 3 is a guide on writing research papers for undergraduates. Obviously much has changed in academia since 1976, but some best practices remain, and this volume is brief and helpful enough to make reading it worthwhile.
