If you are in the mood for an angsty and super emotional romance this one was fantastic! Both Charleigh and River have dark and dangerous histories and I could not turn the pages fast enough to learn more about their pasts. Both of them are super closed off because of this and seeing them slowly open up and trust in each other to build something beautiful together was so sweet. Two damaged people healing each other is one of my favorite things to witness and the author did an amazing job in crafting these two characters. River has formed his own family with his friends and I’m always a sucker for found family and these guys were all so fascinating, I can’t wait for their books. His sister, Raven was a ray of sunshine, I adored her and his son, Nolan was the cutest little guy. So much of this is dark so having these two bring some joy and light made a perfect balance for me. The suspense was also amazing, a few scenes had me on the edge of my seat and some of the reveals really had my jaw dropped. Such a strong start to a new series, I need the next book asap!
