Scabby Queen
by Kirstin Innes
Excellently written - but not for me
This has been a difficult book to rate. The narrative form and skips through time are well executed and the writing is exactly as it needs to be to paint our picture of Clio and her character. However, I just didn't like or understand or sympathise with her at all. I found the book hard going and I found it hard to get into. While I appreciate all of the challenging themes the book approaches from afar, I wouldn't say I enjoyed it.
I would, however, recommend it as a read and I would read more books by Kristin Innes in future.
