I got this book as a advanced reader copy from work (even though the book is already out), and I thought it was a crime novel. I'm not the biggest fan of crime, but I was going to read it nevertheless. I would say this is more a drama or a thriller, which I was really happy about. I didn't know anything about this book when I got it, but when I found out it was about a school shooting I was hooked, that is something I think I should know and read more about. It is also set in Sweden and the book is originally written in Swedish. Then I found out it was about the trial after the school shooting and I became sort of excited. I don't know if I've ever said this before, but there are a few things I love in stories (if it is in movies, shows or books it doesn't matter) and one of them are trials. I love trials. They are so much fun. I love when one part argues for something and the other part argues against it, I think it is exciting and thrilling to watch/read. So a trial made this book so much better for me. Even though we are in present day in the court. The book is mainly about Maja, the main character, we have flashbacks all the way through. We learn about who she was before and after, and everything between, about humanity and how we have to strive to be better, and about the differences in society. It is a mystery in the sense that we go through the book knowing what the result was, but not exactly how it ended up that way, and this is something we get to know as we read on.

I was surprised to find myself enjoying this book a lot. It was slow the first 100 pages, but when I got into it I was hooked! Would recommend!
