It felt like it was drastically failing at being introspective. Boring as all get out. I wanted to understand the idea of only using gender neutral pronouns, and not naming the narrator, and describing everything so boringly, but I couldn't. The illustrations aren't as out of this world as the reviews try to make them seem either - they're not haunting or brilliant. Such a plain book is a pain ..
