This was a strange reading experience. I didn't really like this book, but I liked what it made me think about. I liked what it had to say about fan culture, but I didn't like the plot and I don't think I fully understood much about the main character or family dynamics. There is a good chance that this is a cultural barrier and just shows an area I don't know much about, but nonetheless, it made for a weird reading time, and not a good weird. I gave the book three stars because I do think there is value in it; I just couldn't access it very well myself.
