I've had this book on my Kindle for about a year now and I was just never tempted to pick this up until this week when, for some reason, all I wanted to read was Obsidian. I've heard a lot of great reviews about this book and a lot of comparisons to Twilight, which can't really be helped when the book focuses on a teenage girl moving to a new town and being drawn to a mysterious hottie. However, while this book did have similarities to the vampire bestseller I would describe it as Twilight up a level.

I wasn't expecting to like Katy as much as I did but I really felt drawn to her. She had a bit of spunk to her and was able to fight for herself and didn't let people walk all over her. She was able to give Daemon sass back and while he irritated her, she didn't let it succumb her. Even though she thought of him, she acted normally and went out with her friends, read her books and continued blogging. I also really loved that Katy's other friends Lesa and Carissa were both normal high school girls and they didn't have anything against Katy for seemingly swopping in and capturing the hot guy's attention the way you see in a lot of other books. I loved that Katy was able to make other friends other than Dee and Daemon (if he can be counted as a friend?).

And Daemon. What an annoying and frustrating guy but oh, so, hot. The way he says 'Kitten'. That's the sound of my legs turning to jelly. I wanted them to kiss so badly. The chemistry was killing me and it took so long in coming and all I want to do is keep reading to find out what happens between them.
