this was good.

it was a good story, slightly similar to the practical magic series in the way of it’s whimsical writing, opposite sister characteristics and the tone of is there magic or not?

i liked it overall but i dislike one thing that happens throughout the entire story:

that basically every character -except for one- treated the one sister as if she had no feelings, no mortality or  worth and was utterly selfish - simply because she decided she needed to leave the place she grew up after her parents died.

“I always thought only good-hearted people baked.”
“Well, I guess you were wrong.”

makes no sense to me at all. that entire story side of it? made no sense to me.
everyone griefs differently and deals with loss differently.
wanting to get away from a place, a house and people that don’t really offer a good future and are filled with hard memories? i don’t think that selfish.
and the behaviors of most of the people in this book was full on bullying.

beside that or maybe despite that?
it was a good story.
filled with slightly sadness and tragedy but also with slight hope and dreams
