Dead Girls Can't Smile by Nichole Heydenburg
3.0

Many thanks to the publisher, BookSirens, & the author for an advanced copy of this book.

First and foremost, READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! I went in knowing the warnings and still felt under prepared for the intensity of the pedophilia content.

Overall this book had me torn. The first 30-40% of the book was very dense and slow for me personally. After the first half the pace of the book picked up thankfully and the content focused more on Rose & solving the identity of the stalker. I feel like the ending left a little bit to be desired but still tied up the loose ends. The execution of dual povs and alternating timelines was wonderful.

While most of the plot is believable for me I had a huge issue with the parents reactions and involvement in their daughter’s lives given the circumstances. Also the overall motivation for such an intense revenge plot felt a bit weak and juvenile once it was revealed but it is based around high schoolers so petty and juvenile is somewhat believable.

Definitely not what I was expecting going in . For me it was a bit closer to a 3.5 !
