This collection perfectly encapsulated the different stages of growing up as a woman with a backdrop of the Partition between India and Pakistan. Gill covered sexual assault, school bullies, the caste system, LGBTQ issues and prejudice against immigrants in the UK. It felt like a love story to university life and it made me so nostalgic. I felt the childlike innocence and the awkward teenage period and the section on her coming into her own skin as a woman was so comforting and the perfect conclusion to this story.
