I think the idea behind this collection was nice but the execution just wasn't quite there.  Even the introduction seemed repetitive and rambling.  Some of these poems felt forced for the sake of including certain emotions, and certain things included weren't actually emotions, like health, debt, addiction and growth.  Which would have been fine but all of the poems were more open letters to a personified version of these emotions or things, and so there was more of that repetition.  And where this collection could have had a more in depth discourse with each emotion, further exploring the nuance between emotions that are often used synonymously, it instead seemed to get caught in that same trap.  Overall, I really wanted to like this book but it just didn't work for me.  I believe this is a first published work by this author though, and hopefully they improve their craft with some time and experience.  They certainly seem thoughtful.
