The wolves have come out to the public, and Charles is bearing the brunt of it. He is overcome by grief of informing the werewolf community. This puts a strain on the new relationship between him and Anna. To help him out of his funk Anna, and Charles, is sent to help the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to solve a series of murders. In this novel Anna truly comes to her own as a character.
