Rebel of the Sands
by Alwyn Hamilton
It was good enough for me to go out and buy the rest of the series this morning but not as amazing as I was expecting it to be.
First, I love the name of the main character. Amani is such a beautiful name. She was incredibly naive though and it could be frustrating at times. I feel like that’s a common theme in ya fantasy books, naive heroine has eye opening moment and is suddenly so much more in tune with everything. Or maybe that’s just me.
I love the story though, rebel prince in the desert trying to win back his throne with the help of djinni children. It was very different and very entertaining. I did think Amani’s power was a bit odd though but I’ll have to wait and see where it goes from here.
