The Perfect Girl by Gilly Macmillan
5.0

14 yo Zoey Maisey was a gifted pianist – a child prodigy – when a tragic accident changed her life in a way she could not imagine. She discovered that telling the truth when others lie doesn’t always lead to justice and she was convicted if a horrific crime and spent 9 months in a secure facility for what she maintains to this day was an accident.
Her mother and father divorce and her father has nothing more to do with her. They move to a new town and begin their ‘second chance’ life. Three years later her mother is dead and Zoey is a suspect. Everyone’s secrets and lies are slowly revealed and Zoey realizes that sometimes you have to do wrong if it is the only way to make things right.
The Perfect Girl is a beautifully written story with a heartbreaking plot. It is told from several narratives, unfolding methodically to give us a gripping and complex story… a psychological thriller… a story of second chances or maybe even third chances… a book I could not put down.
