The Senator's Wife
by Liv Constantine
After a tragedy that led to the death of both of their spouses, Sloane and Senator Whit Montgomery find love and comfort with one another. Considering their busy lives, Sloane’s lupus diagnosis, and an imminent hip surgery, the couple decide to hire a home health aide to help with Sloane’s recovery and her foundation work. But things start to take a turn for the worse when Athena enters their lives, and Sloane no longer knows who she can trust.
I had high hopes for THE SENATOR’S WIFE by Liv Constantine, but, alas, I was hugely disappointed.
While the overall storyline was intriguing, I couldn’t get past how stilted the writing was (to the point where my boyfriend told me to “please stop” after I read a passage aloud to him).
There was a lot of telling instead of showing and I can’t help but feel myself cringe as I think back on how awkward and naive every single character came across because of their dialogue.
This may be the end of my journey with this author duo…
