This book is stunning. I was transported to a whole new world from the opening pages, and the voice of teenage Nigerian girl Adunni was incredibly, powerfully written. ⁣

Her story will break your heart over and over (it’s not easy to read of a teenager being sold for marriage to a much older man and enduring horrible things at his hand, or of the abuse she suffered, or of the hard and painful realities of her culture and community) but this book important and impeccable and impressive. ⁣
