I was very satisfied with the ending. The characters seem fulfilled by the end, but I think some people won't necessarily like how open-ended it is. The story is told from the points of view of Lia Mara, Harper, Grey, and Ren. We get more insight into what Ren has gone through behind the scenes that help explain his actions. In addition, we witness the layers of complexity in the relationship between Ren and Grey. This is a tale of forgiveness, brotherhood, and friendship and I appreciated all of those elements that were brought together in this last installment.
Grey is probably my favorite character, but every point of view in the book brings something to the table. There was also a climax for the plot points established in the previous book. The story felt continuous and flowed well. The characters had reasonable motivations for their actions and there is space for understanding all of them. I appreciated this trilogy a lot and I think it's a really good portal fantasy with an interesting plot and characters. The ending is not for everyone, but I still think this series should be given a chance.
