While it was a very entertaining read, the plot felt puddle-deep and as if it wanted to be ready for film adaptation. Aunt Lydia’s character is the only one which has any real conflict, but she still feels flattened and masked.

I think this book will be perfect for die hard fans of the Handmaids Tale tv show, but for people looking for the nuance of how the most vulnerable members of society fight back in fascist times, this isn’t for you
