Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

2.5-3 stars - there is so much hype around this book. I love a good figure skating romance, so I was excited to give it a try. I liked the premise, but it didn’t quite work for me. I think this is mainly for two reasons: the characters are so young (and act it) and it was fairly long. There was a lot of taunting and playing games between the MCs and so much drama with roommates, family members, and other relationships. Parts felt like a soap opera when things would go wrong or pop up (not putting spoilers here). I appreciated the mental health positivity. Lots of therapy. Lots of effort to communicate. Lots of working through things. That’s amazing! The romance was fun and steamy, though a little anticlimactic since they get together fairly early on in the book. I liked the side characters and the parts with her family. Overall I found myself grabbing my hair with their antics and taking breaks between reading sessions because it felt like too much drama.
