AVON PUBLISHED THIS??? i wonder if the audiobook is the selfpub or trad pub bc if it’s trad that shit is a MESSSS!!!! willing to give the next book a shot though since i’m hoping harper collins had more of a hand in its development. okay sorry that was my last edit.

omg i just remembered that there were a thousand POVs which was so confusing especially bc the tone did not change much between characters. that’s just lazy writing. i shouldn’t have to literally be in every characters head to understand them and form opinions on their relationship to the story.
——
this is hard to rate bc on one hand it was super interesting, well written, and well paced from a sports perspective (even though the idea that she’d win that much in her first season in f1 is unfathomable and honestly laughable.) i learned soooo much about f1 and racing in general, and the experience of reading those parts had the same thrill of watching a sport live.
however this is denoted a romance book and was marketed as such. and unfortunately the romance fell flat on its ass and deflated like a capri sun in those old commercials. there was no zero nada chemistry between the leads.
the writing felt clunky at times, and there were a lot of loose ends and plot holes by the end of the book, too. the author would’ve benefitted from a structural editor.
if this author wrote straight up contemporary f1 general fiction, i’d gobble that shit UPPPP.
