I was not expecting this to cause all the previous series to converge, but it did. And it was glorious.
I admit I'm not sure how well this would read if you have not read everything prior to this (my guess is fine, but without a chunk of the power of the background you get with everything), but with all that backstory--wow.
I listened to the audiobook, and I was constantly chattering aloud in response to characters and events. That's normally the sign of a great book for me (though I doubt those who live with me enjoy it quite as much...), and for a book to manage to have me doing that for hours and hours is impressive.
