Beautiful Darkness
by Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl
1.5 stars.
Overall, I was incredibly disappointed by this book. I really enjoyed Beautiful Creatures and its range of strange and kooky characters. By the time I got to the second chapter of Darkness, I already had begun to hate Lena with a passion I did not know I possessed.
The whole book Ethan(a male protagonist I have never been able to really warm to), for me was just a whiny little boy who seemed to have lost his male parts. He allowed Lena to trample over him and his brooding and her moodiness just irritated me.
I also became confused around the time Ethan and Link entered the tunnels and went into more tunnels with Liv and then I just wasn't able to follow along with the story. I also found myself rooting for Liv and Ethan to get together and when they didn't, I was disappointed.
The only great thing about book was something I had guessed early on-Macon being alive!I love Macon and he is a great character and especially for darkness, was a steady character that breathes a bit of a life into a jumbled up mess
I will still read the third book but I won't invest as much hope in it as I did with Darkness..
