The Color of a Lie
by Kim Johnson
I think this was a great YA that focuses on a lot of topics regarding Jim Crow that weren't necessarily covered in school, in a way for younger readers to understand. I liked how Johnson brought in historical figures and events. I think this did a fantastic job of bringing Calvin's emotions, fears, and anxieties to life. I had to stop and pause at one point to calm down from the tension. The ending did seem to be a bit faster paced than the earlier parts but it was enjoyable overall.
