Shoutout to my 12th grade English teacher. If it weren't for him using this book as a cue, I never would have written an essay about waking up as a cactus. So there's that.

I'll set the plot aside, although it's one that I think about often. The particular edition I had included an excellent introduction and lots of notes on the text. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through these and using them to help foster my appreciation for the work. That said, I wasn't much drawn to the text itself, and I wouldn't say that I "enjoyed" the read, hence the lower rating.

I wasn't taught this book well when I first encountered it, and I hope to enjoy Kafka more once I start reading his other works. 3 even stars.
