In the Miso Soup
by Ryū Murakami
A total waste of my time. I'm not sure if I should blame the translation, but the writing was very simple – like middle school essay level simple, and often made no sense. Descriptions of people felt hollow and simplified to the point of extreme generalisations. Half of the story felt like irrelevant, incomprehensible rambling. It's also sexist and tries to normalise adults having relationships with teenagers, plus the author seems to have no idea how a woman's body works. The least you can do is Google it, but that must have seemed like too much of an effort.
