The Chestnut Man is a plot driven detective novel and I really enjoyed how fast paced and strong the book started off but then it came to a stand still. There would be about 15-20 pages of filler and then the book would captivate me again with a sudden shake of craziness. The gruesome scenes were awesome and well detailed. I love Naia, our strong female lead and Mark, the out of county detective who turns out to be more than you expect. I didn't guess the killer and was very surprised at the end. I have high hopes for the tv show.
