New Family Values
by Andrew Solomon
I loved this experience. I enjoyed learning about the topics at hand and I firmly agree with a lot of what I heard and was pleased with what I learned. But this was not a book. Yes, there was an overall narrative, but this isn't the audio recording of a book -- it's a podcast that interviewed a bunch of different people and then used that audio and some overlaying narrative to create an experience.
Overall, while I'm disappointed and feel misled about this being a book when it very much isn't, I'm glad to have heard this experience and want to recommend it to others. The parts that really hit home for me were the families that have adopted children and the women that are child-free. (I imagine that the blended families will hit harder when my boyfriend and I begin living together as he has three children I love.)
