*3.5* I'm really glad I read the introduction to the new edition where Courtney Summers straight up explains why the protagonist in this book is so damn unlikeable. I don't disagree that unlikeable girl/women protagonists are often looked down upon, and I definitely think we need more of them. What really got me about Parker, however, was that she crossed the line from unlikeable to horrible person for most of this story, and that's why I couldn't give it a full 4 stars. Everything else about this book is great, though. I will say, Parker's "growth" seems to come out of nowhere, but the characters around her are entertaining and complicated. Summers definitely knows how to weave a story, and I like that with Cracked Up To Be, much like with Sadie, we meet our protagonist after the fallout of some big event and the book is them picking up the pieces of said event, and we're clued in through a myriad of flashbacks and conversations as to what exactly happened. I do think I will be picking up more Courtney Summers book, as this is the second one I have enjoyed.
