I Find You in the Darkness
by Alfa Holden
First let me say, I love modern poetry books. Especially any written by women or POC.
I don't have the usual hang ups about them being 'whiney' or whatever those pretentious butts have to say about most of them.
This one? DNF.
The poems are so shallow, there's no rhythm, they feel sloppy and there was maybe 1 or 2 in the over 100 that I read that made any kind of emotional impact. I get what she was going for, but this was so boring. I had to force myself to keep reading as far as I did. I'm sorry but a 14 year old could have put this together.
