Stella Maris by Cormac McCarthy
2.0
slow-paced

this was a completely unnecessary split book “series”
this second book -which is just the therapy sessions of the sister! that’s it!- could have been easily been in the first book, for exemplar instead of those moments where it was just that strange flappet handed guy talking endlessly.

also this entire “book” (which lets just call this what it is, a prolong discussion about what and how life is influenced by different things and what if at all it makes it worth being alive for and what might be the best why to commit suicide sprinkled between a good amount of math talk) was basically what in movies would either count as the director cut editor or as deleted scenes.
in other words: nice for huge fans but overall unnecessary and unnecessary long winded.

still in some ways this was slightly better than the passenger itself since it at least didn’t have most of the book focus on everyone but the character and their story. so in some ways this book actually did what it was supposed to do so much better than the first book.

still it’s just a rambled on transcript like feeling book of a therapist trying to figure out if a woman is suicidal or eccentric.

this was clearly not a book “series” for me!
