Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist
by Judith Heumann, Kristen Joiner
emotional
hopeful
informative
inspiring
fast-paced
Written in a simple and easy to read style, Judith Heumann tells the story of her childhood and college years, and then highlights a few big events, like the San Francisco sit-in and the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. I admire Judith Heumann very much, and I wished the book had more detail about her life, and especially her time in the White House and working for World Bank. Although perhaps she wanted to keep things simple. 3.5 stars.
