I got about halfway through this book before I had to stop, which is disappointing because the mystery was very intriguing. I found Grace, the mother & main character, to be very rambly and frankly, annoying. She was incredibly self-deprecating and self-centered even though she claimed to be SO worried about her kids. She would spend pages monolguing about how worried she was about her kids being safe but then she would allow them to do things like playing somewhat unsupervised in an unfenced yard, or she would put herself in dangerous situations that could result in her being harmed and unable to care for them. I also didn't care for the way she talked about her daughter and the little girl who went missing, Ava, kind of insinuating that they were "temptress"-y in some of their mannerisms, it felt really gross. I really want to know what happened to Ava Boone, but not enough to finish the book.
