Daisies and Devotion, Volume 2
by Josi S. Kilpack
2.5-3 Stars - I might recommend if you enjoy proper romances.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, and was excited to see what would happen with the other "marriage campaigns". From the start of the novel, I had a hard time with Timothy, while quite sweet, he was very silly and inconsiderate as a character. He put his foot in his mouth more times than I could count, and generally made Maryann feel awful at many turns. I really had a hard time liking his character. It actually felt like stories about two separate people, who eventually came together, rather than a romance novel. In many ways I liked the story more as it went along, but in other ways I just felt badly for Maryanne that she was treated that way by Timothy. He was rather careless, bossy, and overly protective of her without being her intended. I liked the resolution of this story, and the focus on flaws in people and relationships, but overall this book was a struggle for me. The ending portion of the book redeemed it a little for me, but not by too much. Not a favorite for me.
