All Your Perfects
by Colleen Hoover
Whenever Colleen Hoover includes letters in her books, you know it's going to be good and one where you bawl your eyes out. That's definitely this one. I was hesitant to read this, because I usually don't like reading books about already married couples - I like the meet cute, fall in love, happily ever after ones. Technically, we got both in this book because of the alternating timelines. So, we see them meet and fall in love in the past, and then their marriage struggles in the present, as well as infertility struggles, which is the basis of the book. I thought it was so well written and such a great representation of the struggles one can have when it comes to infertility and just how deeply that takes its toll on a marriage. It was so realistic, in the best, most heartbreaking and gut wrenching way. I really felt for Quinn and her desire to be a mother and the fact that she just can't and how much that hurts both her and Graham. It was literally devastating. I feel for her, even as someone who doesn't have children and doesn't want them. What that must feel like as a woman; the guilt, the doubt, the fear, the resentment. It was beautiful to read these two come away and them come together, defeating the odds and eventually, making peace with the life they've been given and being HAPPY despite some dreams never coming true. I absolutely loved it and I DEFINITELY cried reading those letters, and their subsequent falling back together. One of my favorites!
