I rated The Shadows by Alex North 4 stars. I read this book as a Buddy Read with my BookTok friend, Brie. The book kept me on my toes, constantly trying to guess who was truly responsible for various murders, what really happened when Paul was a kid, and what twists would come next. There was one big twist I did not see coming at all and essentially had my jaw on the floor as it was so out of left field to me. I did think the ending was a little anti-climactic, as I was expecting one more big twist that just didn’t happen, which left me a little disappointed. I enjoyed the whole lucid dreaming plot and thought that was definitely interesting and unique. Reading this as a buddy read was fun and I could also seeing it being a fun bookclub read as well. I would recommend to those who like thrillers.
