Scoring the Quarterback
by S.M. Soto
I wanted to love this book. As it was I enjoyed it quite a lot, but the version I read had a lot of issues.
First things first, I LOVED the premise of this book. Natalia was great and Luke was hot. They definitely worked as a couple.
The story though needs some work. It was slow. Then when we finally got there it finished in a rush. There were, what I consider quite important, details left out. Details about Luke and why he did what he did. Where was that the whole time? Plus, he’s described as a manwhore but we see none of that. In fact, he seems the opposite.
Also, why didn’t we see issues resolved at the end? It was such a major reason for what happened, but yet it’s brushed over with “we talked it over”. I WANT to see that! Don’t put me through what I went through then don’t show my why I had to go through it!
Then there’s timeline issues. Time jumps so quickly without anything showing the passing. Characters are introduced (Alex) who I had no idea where he came from. And when did CJ and Aliza get together?
There’s also continuity issues. Luke’s hair colour changes, as well as other details.
I received this ARC REALLY early, way over a month and a half before release. I really think the author should’ve waited, edited and edited again, before sending this out. These issues really did negatively impact my reading experience.
Having said that, I did like and enjoy this book and hope the kinks are worked out before release.
