Say You'll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
5.0
emotional hopeful sad

Abby can make you swoon in 15 pages or less. At least she did for me. This is instant attraction trope done right! The only thing that bugged me was 1. I don't like modern references to things in books so the many ACOTAR /Rhysand reference bugged me (the first time was fine but she brought it up again like 5x after) and whatever Tiktok challenge she mentioned. Some things were just off. 2. Xavier was like... almost too perfect. Like I kept going "is this guy even fictionally real?!?" #VILF

The emotional parts of this book hit hard. I've never had to experience a situation with dementia so I can only imagine but those scenes were so heart wrenching.

I loved that this book showed so many aspects and relationships of love.

If you love This Is Us or The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang, you'll love this one.

This is why I hated humans. They were the worst animals on the planet.

"Because most people don't say what they think. Animals do.  They're transparent. Their body language doesn't lie. They always tell you the truth if you pay attention. People lie all the time."

They say that you won't remember what someone said, but you'll always remember how they made you feel.

"I can't stand people who are rude to service workers," she said. "It's the best litmus test there is. That and putting your cart away at the grocery store."

"Because if you were my wife you would be my world. Everything starts with you and ends with you. Anything else is just the stuff that happens in the middle."

"Some things are worth remembering, Samantha. No matter how much they hurt."

Sometimes the challenges we face either break is or they make us stronger. And sometimes they do both.

Maybe that's the last thing we forget. Or we never forget it at all. Not really. We lose the words to say it. We lose the ability to show it. But we never lose the ability to feel it or recognize it when we see it.

Love is the brightest color in a gray world.
