The Song of Achilles
by Madeline Miller
"There are no bargains between lion and men. I will kill you and eat you raw."
Everything hurts and I'm dying.
I forgot how tragic Greek Mythology can be. In The Song Of Achilles, Madeline Miller brings us a story full of raw pain and conflict and a heart achingly beautiful romance. We follow Patroclus, a young prince exiled to King Peleus's court, where he meets Achilles. From the beginning, Patroclus and Achilles had my heart. Seeing them grow from young boys into men, watching their relationship develop, was everything. Their relationship was consuming, captivating and just unlike anything I've ever come across before.
And Madeline Miller's style of writing is just as good as I remembered - her lyrical writing was mesmerising and she transported me directly to Ancient Greece. The Song of Achilles was such an impactful read, I definitely understand the hype.
