Yes Please by Amy Poehler
4.0

This was honestly so good. As I re-watch Parks and Rec for the 4th time and remembering why this is my favourite show, hearing about Amy's experiences and life's story honestly added to much to it. I was in near tears when she talked about her relationships with all of her fellow cast members, especially about Rashida Jones. I felt weird fomo during the chapters about her days with Second City and SNL and the Upright Citizens Brigade. I loved listening to her recount her life and seeming relatable, despite the fact that she's a literal celebrity.

I will say though, this isn't a 5-star simply because it was written in 2014 and has very specific 2014 elements. I would love to hear what she would change if she wrote the book now. I would love to hear an update on her relationship with Louis C.K after all of the sexual assault allegations came out, as well as Aziz Ansari and Chris Pratt. I would love to see how her comedy and perspectives shifted as a result of the shifting political landscape over the last 9 years. I would love if the book was a little less hetero (though for a straight woman in 2014, I think she did a fairly good job).

All of this to say, I adore her. I think she's so funny, so real, and so inspiring. I love how bold she is, and how she doesn't shy away from taboo topics.
