My favorite Rebecca Ross book to date! Categorized as young adult, the characters are 18/19 and their concerns reflect that transition to adulthood (internships, jobs and independent survival, marriage and conscription in war, and parental control), so I would consider this a bridge between young adult and new adult. This feels like a World Word II love story crossed with vengeful gods crossed with You've Got Mail. If you enjoyed The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and don't mind a higher stakes plot (and a series start - this is not a stand-alone and ends on a cliffhanger), you will thoroughly enjoy this.
Graphic: Grief, Death of parent
Moderate: Alcoholism, Child death, War, Injury/Injury detail
