Won this through a GoodReads First Reads giveaway, and I'm glad I did. The jacket doesn't lie - this is definitely a page turner, one I read in a single three hour sitting because I couldn't put it down.
My real rating for this would be 3.5 stars if I could give it that half star, but I can't bring myself to give it four.
This book is an engrossing look at a mother-daughter relationship, the tough choices a woman has to make, and the consequences that has in her life. For the first two-thirds of this book, it focuses on that to great effect. I felt for Rose as she went through everything, and while her daughter and family weren't as filled in as I would like, I cared for them, too.
Then the last third turns into a totally different book altogether - throwing in conspiracy theories and Mom Sleuth and all kinds of plot twists and revelations I'm not sure really matter. It felt like a whole chunk of the book had to happen so the ending would work out the way it did. That would be the reason for my minus a half star, but otherwise, I really enjoyed this.
