This book focuses on the events of February 20, 2003 at The Station Nightclub in Rhode Island. People had turned up to this janky club to hear a popular band from the 1980's, (which was not that great to begin with, in my opinion), called Great White perform. The band did not secure proper permits, which should have been denied anyway, for the pyrotechnics that they used. The club was not suitable for pyrotechnic use. The band made the decision to use the pyrotechnics anyway, doing it themselves, with no license or training to operate them legally. The sparks caught the "sound proofing" on fire, burning the club down in minutes. The sound proofing was actually foam blocks and panels, not approved for sound proofing and was made out of extremely flammable material. There were no sprinkler systems. I believe it said there was one out of date fire extinguisher found. The floor at the exit sloped, causing people to fall and become trapped. A bouncer was trying to turn people away from an exit that would have saved many lives, because they were not with the band, even though the entire building was in flames with the foam turning into napalm. The entire situation was just one stupid decision after another, because of idiocy and being cheap skates. The fire marshal let these things slide, when anyone with sense would have never.

Nearly 100 people died in the fire, or after as a result of burns sustained. Around 200 more were burned and/or disfigured. There is an untold number of friends, families, and survivors who were traumatized by the events. The entire thing was disgusting and certainly avoidable. After reading this book and hearing some of the remarks made by the lead singer of Great White, I looked him up on social media to see if he was active and still performing....he is. I have never liked this band from what I have heard on the radio, but if I did, I cannot imagine supporting them. I would especially not support the singer of this band after his attitude and actions surrounding the fire and loss of life. All of those major players are absolutely disgraceful people.
