Its no wonder this book was chosen as one of the best books of the 20th Century! Its incredible. The story of Francie Nolan and her family making a go of the American dream in turn-of-the-century Brooklyn is so moving and inspiring and great. Even decades after it was published it still has the capacity to resonate with readers and its almost too easy to read. A book from 1943 shouldn't be so readable. I loved every page and I'm so glad that this was the book that I started 2011 with!
