Cover Vol. 1
by Brian Michael Bendis
This is one of the oddest ideas ever, yet it worked out pretty damn well.
So this is a lot about comic conventions. I've been to them as just a viewer/buyer, and also as someone who set up shop to try and sell my comic. They're both fun and stressful at times. People look past you to buy cheap shit, and garbage, instead of giving the time of day to view hard working comics people make with blood sweat and tears. This story gives some spotlight on that but quickly turns into a spy mission. Our main character is approach by a woman who buys a lot of his stuff and then uses him to go undercover to get information from another artist that'll help save the world.
It's a interesting idea and a lot of it works. It's both interesting and funny. Bendis does his signature back and forth but it actually works for the majority of the plot. It's told through context of doing these conventions. Also, the art is great. Mack does an amazing job of giving multiple styles in one book and you got to love it. The stories does drag at one or two points in issue 4 and 5 but the ending wraps it up nice.
If want something different I'd strongly recommend this. A 4 out of 5.
