Batman Beyond, Volume 3: The Long Payback
by Dan Jurgens
Ouch, this was pretty meh.
SO I enjoyed volume 1-2 of Batman Beyond. This...this is kind of like a filler episode. I watched Beyond growing up so I enjoyed it then, and I enjoyed the revival here. But it feels like it lost it's way in this volume. We have basically a bunch of villains, or some-what villains fighting Batman but really the big reveal, or character to add to the group, is Terry's little brother becoming Robin.
Good: Terry is still a interesting main character, and I like him and Bruce together. I also enjoyed some of the big fighting moments here.
Bad: The storyline is really bad IMO. Just doesn't hold any weight. Also, what in the fuck was the main bad guy's storyline? Like his motivation was horrible. Also, Terry's brother becoming Robin was so telegraphed that when it happened it was dumb.
Overall this wasn't horrible but easily the weakest in the volumes of the series so far. I can't go above a 2.5...actually I'd probably land on a 2.
