Okay so I think we can all say we’ve seen the movie version of this book and it’s a “black movie classic.” But this is the first time I’ve actually read and finished the book and I must say I love it almost as much as the movie.

There are quite a few similarities between the two but obviously the book gives more detail and mentions things that weren’t shown in the film. Her writing style was a bit annoying and punctuation was nonexistent in some parts LOL.

But I laughed quite a bit because the language Stella used compared to the movie was hilarious. Now she kind of got on my nerves constantly questioning Winston’s intentions and pondering on the fact there was such a major age difference between the two. As if that really mattered since they’re both adults and knew what they wanted.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this. I’m a big fan of Terry anyway and she ain’t let me down yet. If you’ve ever watched the movie I think you’d enjoy reading the novel also.
